Technologically, Base64 is well and truly in the 21st century. As well as discreetly placed solar panels that generate 73 kilowatt-peak (kWp) of energy, the buildings have been completely rewired with new electrical cabling and Cat6E data cabling. The on-site network is linked to the Internet by high-speed fibre-optic cabling offering download and upload speeds of one gigabit per second. One building includes a state-of-the-art server room to allow for high-end computing resources on-site as required.

Base64 is largely self-sufficient in terms of energy, with a Redflow Large Scale Battery (LSB) that can store as much as 450 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of energy – enough to keep the site powered for days in the event of a grid blackout. The LSB is located at the back of Base64’s western carpark, beneath an innovative tree-like mounting system that ‘floats’ a 50 kilowatt peak (kWp) array of solar panels above staff and visitor cars. Base64 has an additional 20kWp of solar panels installed elsewhere in the precinct.

As well as its technological leadership, Base64 provides a peaceful retreat just minutes from the city, with a variety of conversation, meeting, eating, and thinking spaces, as well as offices and large open-air collaborative working areas. The site is designed to encourage a productive collaboration between its residents and visitors. It has facilities for training, events and seminars, in addition to a variety of quiet and comfortable spaces for individuals and small groups to hold conversations.

Base64 welcomes bespoke and customised events with spacious indoor and outdoor areas that can host a wide variety of functions, from workshops and training sessions to board meetings and roadshows. Base64 has a capacity of 80 people (standing) for on-site events, with catering available upon request. Limited car parking is available on-site with many unmetered parks on nearby streets.

Base64’s blisteringly fast fibre Internet connection makes high speed streaming and webinar delivery both quick and easy. We also offer a range of audiovisual and teleconferencing facilities for your use. The result is that people love Base64.

“Adelaide Fringe loved doing our strategy planning days at Base 64. We felt totally at home and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The Chapel was the perfect space for the full team planning sessions and being able to use the courtyard and other areas for break outs was just perfect. We loved the kitchen area and we are super jealous of your coffee machine!” Heather Croall, Adelaide Fringe

“Thank you for all your help with our event last month! Everything was spot on, and we can’t speak highly enough of the venue and you personally. We had a great experience and hope to be back soon.” Lisa Cotter, Reposit Power
